Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach me at kim@kimbeckertherapy.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

I am an  in-network provider for several major insurance companies. If you are utilizing insurance, please be aware that coverage for psychotherapy is based on the medical model, meaning services must be considered "medically necessary." This typically requires a formal diagnosis and a documented treatment plan that illustrates a need for clinical intervention.

While insurance can help alleviate out-of-pocket expenses, it also imposes certain limitations, such as diminished privacy and the necessity to frame your experience in terms of symptoms or disorders. If you prefer a more holistic, insight-oriented approach that is not constrained by medical necessity, you may want to consider self-pay options or explore my Inner Relationship Focusing services. For more information, visit kimbeckerfocusing.com.

For clients who choose not to use insurance, or whose needs fall outside the scope of a medical diagnosis, I offer self-pay options. Self-pay provides us with greater flexibility in how we approach our work together, particularly in areas such as  personal growth, spiritual exploration, or navigating life transitions, without the constraints of insurance requirements.

Self-pay clients have the freedom to define the pace, goals, and direction of therapy, which can be especially beneficial for those seeking depth work or long-term inner transformation. Many self-pay clients also appreciate the added confidentiality, as no information is shared with a third party.

I believe that meaningful therapeutic support should be accessible to those who need it. While my standard fees reflect the time, training, and care I bring to my work,  I also reserve a limited number of sliding-scale slots for clients experiencing financial hardship who are not using insurance.

Please note: Sliding-scale options are only available if I am not a provider for your insurance plan. If I am in-network with your insurance, we are contractually required to use your insurance benefits for payment.

If you are uninsured, or if I am not in-network with your plan, and cost is a concern, please feel free to reach out. I am happy to discuss current availability and explore whether we can find a fee that works for both of us. These reduced-fee appointments are based on both financial need and scheduling availability. My goal is to make space, where possible, for those sincerely committed to the work, regardless of income.

I specialize in providing therapy to adults (18+) who are struggling with anxiety, panic attacks, or chronic worry; living with depression, burnout, or low motivation; facing painful loss, grief, or life transitions; managing the emotional toll of chronic pain or illness; feeling stuck, unfulfilled, or spiritually lost; and seeking a deeper understanding of their emotions and patterns.

Inner Relationship Focusing (IRF) is a gentle, body-based practice that helps you access your own inner wisdom and navigate life with greater clarity, calm, and authenticity. Developed by Ann Weiser Cornell and Barbara McGavin and rooted in the pioneering work of philosopher Eugene Gendlin, IRF teaches you how to listen to yourself in a new way—especially the parts of you that may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or in conflict.

In an IRF session, you’ll learn how to turn inward with compassion and curiosity, creating a sense of safe inner space where your feelings can be heard without judgment. This allows emotional tension to soften and insight to emerge, helping you to make wiser decisions, feel more grounded, and move forward in a way that’s true to who you are. Many individuals find IRF deeply supportive not just for emotional healing and self-regulation, but also as a form of spiritual direction—helping them reconnect with a sense of meaning, inner guidance, or the Sacred, especially in times of transition or questioning.

Whether you’re seeking relief from emotional distress, clarity in your decision-making, or a deeper connection to your spiritual life, Inner Relationship Focusing offers a pathway inward—toward the quiet, steady guidance that’s been within you all along.
